P Jan shared about faith on Saturday… And it was a powerful time of worship and ministry… Something I hadn’t experienced in a while…

It’s been ages since I last heard P Jan preach… The last time being the disbanding of XA Campus Ministry… Felt rather nostalgic listening to her again…

She always shares from her heart, whether its for the camp committee, carecell leaders training, campus ministry, or counselling. And that never fails to touch my heart… Cos she isn’t being high and mighty, she’s very real and very honest… (Especially with the peppering of her Janisms….

Some things she mentioned left a rather deep impression on me…

We all know what faith is and where to find its definition. Hebrews 11:1 - Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. But she shared another quote from Augustine which puts the Hebrews11 thing into proper perspective…

“Faith is to believe what we do not see, and the reward of faith is to see what we believe.”

I can understand that!!

Then she goes on to share about fixing our eyes on the Author of our Faith, Jesus Christ (Hebrews 12:1-2).

The word Author (Archegos) is derived from the words Arche (which means ‘to begin’ and ‘to rule’ and Agos (which means ‘to lead’ and ‘to drive’. So Jesus isn’t just the author of our faith as we commonly understand it. He is also the leader of our faith and He rules our faith.

So faith was God’s creation. Not something of our own being. We can’t have faith on our own. God gives us faith. And He leads us to exercise that faith in our daily dealings.

Romans 10:17 - Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of God.

That verse kept coming back to me when I was preparing for my interview. And I found that different people were speaking God’s word into my situation, whether in prayer or in hearing different words from God. Finally, when I told God that I wanted to hear and have faith, I heard,

“I will not leave you nor forsake you.”

“I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

I can’t for the life of me remember where these two verses are found… But it was a great encouragement to me nonetheless… And the interview was quite good… I think at least one of the interviewers was impressed…

In any case, whether I get this job depends on whether God wants me to be in this job for this season… I’m leaving that to Him… He’s my real big boss… “It’s not about who I am or what I can do. It’s about what He wants to do”… And besides, like what P Jan said,

“If God is for me, who can be against me?”

Soph got me an after-interview surprise…

It was extremely sweet of her… I was so touched… Until I found out what it was…

If you know Soph, and know what she collects, and know that my after-interview surprise came in a Topshop bag… You would know what she got me…

Yup…

It even has the design of Yi Xin Yi Yi on it…

Topshop3

Thanx Soph… I’ll er… try it on sometime…
