Camera Geek

Daddy just bought the Canon Powershot G7.
canonG7_frontback

Had so much fun playing around with it today.

Never thought i’d like a consumer camera after my own D70. But this one is pretty cool.

It’s 10Megapix (my DSLR is only 6 Megapix), small, compact, ISO 80 - 1600, F2.8 - 4.8, 7.4mm - 44.4mm (a very good wide angle lens) and you can add other lens extensions and your own flash. It’s got great features like Stitch Assist, Audio & Video recording, and fully manual functions!

And because it uses SD cards, transferring of pictures will be a breeze, cos my lappie comes with a built-in SD card reader!

It’s my ideal blogging companion.

Birthday Boy & Myself - Treated him to “The Prestige” as his birthday gift. It was a great show, albeit a little gross (but i’ll blog about it another time).

Happy Birthday, Nic! Have a great 26th year. & I hope you read this after midnight.

Numb - Linkin Park

I’m tired of being what you want me to be
Feeling so faithless lost under the surface
Don’t know what you’re expecting of me
Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes
Caught in the undertow
just caught in the undertow
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
Caught in the undertow
just caught in the undertow

Chorus
I’ve become so numb
I can’t feel you there
Become so tired
so much more aware
I’m becoming this
all I want to do
Is be more like me
and be less like you

Can’t you see that you’re smothering me
Holding too tightly afraid to lose control
Cause everything that you thought I would be
Has fallen apart right in front of you
Caught in the undertow
just caught in the undertow

Every step that I take is another mistake to you
Caught in the undertow
just caught in the undertow

And every second I waste is more than I can take

Chorus

Bridge
And I know
I may end up failing too
But I know
You were just like me
with someone disappointed in you

Chorus

I’ve become so numb
I can’t feel you there
I’m tired of being what you want me to be
I’ve become so numb
I can’t feel you there
I’m tired of being what you want me to be

Retro Recall

I never heard/knew much Queen… I listened to Carpenters mostly… ABBA, I heard more of after I watched Mama Mia… But I do have some 缘分 with this Queen song…

Don’t stop me now - Queen

Melvin, from our cell before, made me learn the lyrics of this song one day when he drove me home… Like, really learn the song… He would play the first verse, repeat the lyrics for me line by line… Then stop the song, go back to the start and make me sing it… He did that until i learnt the ENTIRE song… Felt like I was being hijacked… But it is a nice song…

Lately, Power98’s been playing it quite often… I must have heard it 4 times already… I even woke up one morning with the song ringing in my head… Then, last night, as I was sending my sister & her hubby home, we heard the song again… And my sister went,

“Hey! it’s our song!”

“Whose song?” I asked

“Our march-in song!” she said.

“Yea! This was the first one right?” said the brother-in-law

“I think it was the second” said the sister

This song was my sister’s march-in song at the wedding… The one where they came in on Segways…

It’s a happy song… Makes you wanna jump around, do a little jig, pull a John Travolta (in Grease) impersonation right in the middle of a deserted Shop N Save… ;)

Hey Girlfriend!

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

Just got a chain mail from an old fren, celebrating Girlfriend and Sister’s week…

I’ve had sisters since before I was born and I never even heard about this before. Oh well…

Anyway, it was a feel-good kind of thing, celebrating women and all that nice stuff so I tot I’d put it up here… (words in parentheses are mine)

To all the great women in my life… You know who you are…

I am only as strong as the coffee I drink, the hairspray I use and the friends I have.

Girlfriends Day small

What would most of us do without our sisters, confidants and shopping, lunching, and traveling girls? Let’s celebrate each other for each other’s sake!

It is good to be a woman because:

1. We got off the Titanic first.
2. We can scare male bosses with the mysterious gynaecological disorder excuses. (Pray you never get a boss like JBB)
3 Taxis stop for us.
4. We don’t look like a frog in a blender when dancing (uh… really?)
5. No fashion faux pas we make, could ever rival the Speedo.
6. We don’t have to pass gas to amuse ourselves. (Southpark comes to mind)
7. If we forget to shave, no one has to know.
8 We can congratulate our teammate without ever touching her rear end.
9. We never have to reach down every so often to make sure our privates are still there. (eww)
10. We have the ability to dress ourselves.
11. We can talk to the opposite sex without having to picture them naked
12. If we marry someone 20 years younger, we are aware that we will look like an idiot.
13. We will never regret piercing our ears (unless there are no more pretty earrings to buy)
14. There are times when chocolate really can solve all your problems. (YES!)
15. We can make comments about how silly men are in their presence because they aren’t listening anyway.

Disclaimer:

This does not necessarily reflect the view of the writer… The writer does not really think men don’t listen… Most of them don’t… But not all… This is merely a quoted email… For the celebration of womenfolk… Not a condemnation of the menfolk…

Although she must agree with the Speedo thing…

London gifts are falling down

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

I love it when my sister comes back from a holiday… She always brings back great presents…
This time she was away on a business trip to London…

I got a box of 20 silver candles! Normally i hate getting impractical presents… But useless silver things are always the exception… She even knew it was the correct silver… so touched…

She also got me a cool black bag… It can be completely unzipped and rolled up to stowaway when I go on trips and camps and might need an extra bag….

Stella has 2 darling dresses! 1 of them is from GAP!!! Screech!!! She is gonna be one spoilt baby…

Preggie Sis (14)

Preggie sis parading the Baby GAP dress…

Preggie Sis (15)

The Baby GAP blouse - Does this fit stella?
Too bad the brother-in-law stepped in early and limited Stella’s clothing to S$30 max per piece… Spoilt our fun… He knew me and my mum and sisters would have gone wild otherwise… Shucks…

Here’s the thing… Stella’s branded wear is gonna be my kids’ branded hand-me-downs in about 8 years time… My big sis already declared it… Hai… As if it wasn’t enough that I wore hand-me-downs all my life… My consolation is that my kids are gonna wear baby gap from 0-3mths… How cool is that?

And you know what else?

She (my sister, not stella) brought back 2 Krispy Kreme donuts!!!

I LOVE MY SISTER!!!

Kokoro

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

Was recently reminded of the Kokoro website…

I first learnt about it from Maomi, during the exam season of my second last semester in NTU (Wasn’t my last sem cos I only had 1 exam)… We studied in TR103 at the North Spine for weeks… Yeap… I studied… (Well, I attempted to at least)

During lunchbreak, we’d buy takeout from can A (my jap food as always), connect the lappie to the projector and watch a show from Kokoro…

It’s a taiwanese website of animation drama serials… Think 流星花园 in cartoon format… You get the idea… The shows are quite short, about 6 to 8 episodes, and each episode is about 5 mins… Although the stories are predictably cliched, it’s still pretty moving… Sulih, Cat & I got so upset over 恋雨…

The website’s changed now… It only shows two of their newest serials… You can’t view the archived shows…except for a fee… I never managed to watch the famous show 摘心… But I did watch the new show 蛋糕核桃烧… And I was glued to it, after the first episode…

Not everyone can stand watching a show about a wishy-washy lovelorn guy, meeting a girl who looks exactly like his first love (the ex girlfriend apparently disappeared into thin air, commited suicide or got washed away at sea when he was away…).

Even fewer people can stand it when he falls in love with the lookalike and then gets confused and rejects her, only to find out later that she had been loving him from a distance for a long time, and dressed up to look like the guy’s ex only because she wanted to console & comfort him… (oh, and they call it true love… whatever…)

The most severe critics would complete trash it when they watch how he finally came to his senses and went to look for her, only to find her and save her from an oncoming truck and then get hit by it himself (ok fine, i hated that bit too… Overused…)

But, for the disgusting romantic that I am… I loved it to bits!

I’m utterly ashamed of myself…

Congratulations to my ‘mama’!

Someone finally managed to touch her heart…

Really happy for you! And if he ever tries to bully you, I will make him regret it!
