Fang Qiang Qiang is the little boy deposited at a boarding school and suddenly thrust into a world of regimentation and order. He’s required to dress himself, poop in the morning, and never to wet his bed. For doing everything right, the children are rewarded with little red flowers. Qiang Qiang never gets any.
In protest, he starts to disobey his teachers, bringing the little girls to visit the hospice nearby, terrorising the boys and even convincing everyone that the supervising teacher is a child-eating monster at night. Finally, to punish him, Qiang Qiang is isolated and ostracised by the entire school.
Although the plot is pretty innocuous, one can’t help seeing the underlying satire in the show. The regimen of the school is almost ridiculous! And Qiang seemed unfairly treated. Your heart goes out to him, wishing he could dress himself, wishing he didn’t wet his bed whenever he dreams of peeing in the snow, wishing he didn’t always get into trouble and wishing he wouldn’t be left alone.
Just for interest sake, the nice teacher in the show, acted by Li Xiaofeng, looks almost identical to Zhao Wei!!
TBP Rating: If you’re into art films and political history, watch it. If not, well, you might get a bit bored.
