Another ‘want’

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

I always dreamed of owning a small travel guitar to practice my music on-the-go. (And I’m a very on-the-go kind of person.)

But I never ever thought to check up on travel guitars. I simply assumed most people were happy with the size and weight of their guits.

Until I heard about this…

Lapstick

The LapStick

Handcrafted by Phil Neal, the lapstick boasts a mere 550g, and dimensions 50.5cm x 10cm x 4cm. It has a mahagony wood body, rosewood fretboard, and an internal preamp with clean, distortion and overdrive sounds.

It’s a guitar designed to be played on the bus, on the plane, or anywhere else you can think of, and you won’t disturb anyone else cos you can plug in your own earphones. (Unless you want to disturb people, then you can plug it into an amp).

For such a light guitar, it has a real weighty pricetag… The Lapstick costs a hefty 495 euros (or S$1001)…

Sigh…

Letter to Stella

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

Hello sweetie…

This is the first letter you will ever get from from anyone.

I figured that when you grow up, you are going to have a lot of questions about what it was like when you were young and why you are the way you are.

This letter will attempt to explain why you turned out the way you did, based on your life so far, which is about the first 3 months of your life.

  • It was your Daddy who gave you your looks.
  • It was your Daddy who gave you your very independent spirit.
  • It was your Mummy who gave you your loud voice.
  • It was your Mummy who gave you your little button nose, and all the sneezes and sniffles that come with it.
  • It was your Mummy & Daddy who started you on Jason Mraz and Kings of Convenience, and probably every other form of indie rock music.
  • It was your Grandma who made you very particular about cleanliness.
  • It was your Grandma who first started calling you “wenyin guai guai” (translation: be good, stella)
  • It was your Grandpa who was the first man you learnt to manipulate… hmm
  • It was your Da Yi who taught you to be pretty first and comfy later.
  • It was your Da Yi told you to start walking quickly so that you can be the flower girl at her wedding.
  • It was your Da Yi who made you never forget the names of Pinky Cat & Spunky Dog.
  • It was your Xiao Yi who taught you to sleep in on rainy days.
  • It was your Xiao Yi who confused you with flash cards.
  • It was your Xiao Yi who desperately rocked and sang Jason Mraz, while you were in her arms, just to make you stop crying.

Of course, there’s something else…

It was all of us who spoiled you completely…

All our love, Baby…

New toy

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

Recently went and bought myself a decent tripod.

It was meant for a last minute wedding assignment, but thank goodness the photog recovered from his illness, so I could just attend the wedding and relax…

Nevertheless, i’m very proud of my new toy. The Slik U8000.

Slik

I’d meant to it buy for months but never got round to it. Had lots of excuses to explain why I didn’t need it. It’s bulky and heavy, it slows my movement and speed of capturing moments. (Which were all crap cos my lenses aren’t fast enough for most indoor events anyway. Oh well.)

Now, I’m better equiped to take slow shutter pics. Cool!

Clash of the Spartans

Monday, March 19th, 2007

Leonidas: You, what is your profession?

Arcadian: I’m a potter, sir.

Leonidas: And you, Arcadian, what is your profession?

Arcadian: I’m a sculptor.

Leonidas: And you?

Arcadian: I’m a blacksmith.

Leonidas: Spartans! What is your profession?

Spartans: Harooh! Harooh! Harooh!

Random voice in my head: Uneducated… Clearly not answering the question…

What I learnt this weekend

Sunday, March 18th, 2007
  1. It’s good to sleep.
  2. It’s ok to not blog everyday. (freedom!)
  3. It’s bad to be impatient about buying something cos you end up getting the wrong thing or having to wait even longer to get the right thing.

It’s been a busy weekend…

Making Jane Smile…

DSC00373

It’s pretty cool when a silly mailer from SDU & NLB (above) makes Jane Jane smile on her birthday… Hehe… (Did anyone notice the dreadful typo on the front cover?)

I’m sure the birthday peppermint ice cream ‘cake’ & the precious moments photoframe didn’t hurt either…

Here’s the picture to put in your photoframe!!

Happy birthday Buddy!!
