Baby sitter lessons

Stella comes over every Sunday so that we can take care of her and spend time with her. Of cos, her mummy and daddy get some time off for themselves too.

I’d been getting pretty good at taking care of her. I could feed her, burp her, carry her to sleep, calm her down when she’s crying, and bring her out for a walk. So we guessed that she must rather like me.

But today, for some strange reason, she wouldn’t let me or anyone else carry her. She cried hysterically all afternoon. She didn’t want her milk, she didn’t want to play, she didn’t want to sleep and she hadn’t soiled her diapers. We took turns to calm her down, but none of our usual tricks worked. We were all at our wits end, and i even sent an SOS sms to her mother.

Then I realized that i was wearing specs, and i’d never worn them in the past when she came over. I decided to take the specs off.

This time, when i took over carry her, she stopped crying.

She really stopped crying. In fact, she became rather happy. She was happy being left alone to play on the mat, she talked casually again (i.e. talking noises, no words yet), and most importantly, she wanted her milk. I’ve never seen her finish her milk that quickly before. Must have been really hungry… And finally, she even let me coax her to sleep, without having to carry her the entire time. (That is a real achievement!)

The entire family was so amazed by the discovery…

Stella doesn’t like specs!
