Joseph

Friday, December 14th, 2007

During a rather solemn bible study sharing at L Cell, someone said they thought Joseph was a very successful man. So Sharon probed further asking,

“Why do you think Joseph was very successful?”

The reply came,

“Because he is your boyfriend.”

***Am terribly glad that the name Wai Kay isn’t even remotely biblical…

Sanctified in Christ

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

Exactly a month ago, my dearest old friend and sister-in-christ, chose to take a step of faith and obedience to follow Jesus in water baptism.

I had the privilege of witnessing the entire event. Even took a video of her testimony (which I will not show because she would kill me if i did…) Her written testimony was also unexpectedly published in the church magazine, together with her photo of her and Rosco (her boisterous pet dog)… Man, she felt so embarrassed…

I, on the other hand, thought her testimony was very heartfelt and honest and inspiring… But I can’t show that either… (she specifically warned me on this one.) In fact, her story of finding Christ still never fails to amaze me, no matter how many times I hear it or read about it.

  • It was God who reached out to her.
  • It was God who drew her to Him.
  • It was God who taught her to love Him and follow Him

Ling's Baptism

As I sat in the audience watching her, I felt nothing but joy! God did a great thing in her life, giving her a lot of strength and hope, and we’ve grown so much closer than we’d ever been before.

Congratulations Ling! I’m so glad that God gave me the privilege of being a part of your life! Love you so much!

PEARLS BEFORE SWINE

When I saw this, I was reminded of you… JBB

Hahaha!

P.S. I can almost see yk in the role of Zebra Jr.

Bye bye JBB!

Sunday, May 6th, 2007

This morning, Jiabinbin flew off to Africa for his immersion programme… which I think is way cool… I doubt I’d ever get the chance to visit Africa and help out in hospitals, like what he’s gonna do for the next 6 weeks…

His flight was @ 3.20am, the last flight to leave Changi Airport for the day apparently… Me, Kay, and Soph went to send him off… Okay, so it really isn’t that much of a sacrifice cos we all got a lift from jbb’s parents to the airport… And I got the ride back too!

Jbb sent an sms to us thanking us for sending him off… He said it felt surreal travelling on his own… I know that feeling… That was how I felt the first day I arrived at Bangladesh…

I sat in my new room, taking in the room and recalling the entire journey… The flight, the immigration, the deserted roads I travelled on, and all the sights and smells. I started arranging my things into the wardrobe and displaying the several farewell cards from friends and family… I played a familiar song on my laptop, took a look at all my unpacked luggage, and started crying… The realization that I would be away from home for 6 long months suddenly overwhelmed me…

I cried myself to sleep that night.

Soph thinks her parents wouldn’t ever let her fly to Africa on her own like that. Neither would mine actually… But I have feeling that if I had to go away again, my parents would let me go, albeit very reluctantly, just like before… It’s interesting to see how God opens doors for things when it comes down to it…

Anyway, before I digress any further…

Have a great trip, JBB! Upload lots of pictures ya?? See you in 6 weeks!

Stinking Friday

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

Finally had a combined cell gathering after so long… The whole two centres thing makes it so difficult for the two ex-ntu cells to have a meet up…

Once again, it was a bbq at cat’s…

We had lots of food (chix wings, satay, beehoon, fried rice, very tasty fish, & marshmallows)… Two new people, Jean, and Joyce (who happens to be Jon’s younger sister and is a splitting image of him)… Lots of silly chatter (I discovered some new people are reading my blog… Hello GX!)…

And cheesecakes made by Ivan & gf Yihui… I loved their oreo one!

It didn’t really end well for my dar though… The gathering ended so late, that by the time we left, yk missed his impt bus, and reach home at 2am. I missed my last bus home after walking a long way to AMK Hub, and had to pay the midnight surcharge for the cab fare…

But what I really didn’t like was the fact that my clothes were all stinking after the BBQ…

hahaha…

Sincerest Apologies…

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

Made a friend hunt all over tokyo for memorabilia of my latest anime craze…

Caused him to stumble into a pretty disturbing shop…

Good thing his gf was sensible enough to drag him out…

Apologising here again… SORRY!

Thank you notes

Making Jane Smile…

It’s pretty cool when a silly mailer from SDU & NLB (above) makes Jane Jane smile on her birthday… Hehe… (Did anyone notice the dreadful typo on the front cover?)

I’m sure the birthday peppermint ice cream ‘cake’ & the precious moments photoframe didn’t hurt either…

Here’s the picture to put in your photoframe!!

Friend A: If you don’t [insert unreasonable demand here], I am going to send you to SPCA!

Friend B: What are you talking about??

Friend A: SPCA

Friend B: What SPCA??

Friend A: The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals…

Friend B: What animal??

Yes… Strange things transpire when you meet an old friend late at night, after a long and tiring day of work, and you both just had an entire can of coke each…

Melmel的婚礼

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

Attended Melmel’s pretty and simple wedding @ Rasa Sentosa.

It was a really quirky and funny thing. Like their second march-in. Melmel came in, holding a rose between his teeth and sashayed down the aisle with Weisum in a lovely yellow cheong sum (worn by her mother when she was married.)

If I’m ever tempted to hold my wedding at Sentosa (only because it is so pretty), someone please wake up my idea. It’s really really far… And I know BOTH my sisters would be terribly annoyed.

*sigh…
